Underwater Panther

An Underwater panther, called Mishipeshu or Mishibijiw in Ojibwe, is one of the most important of several water beings among many Great Lakes and Northeastern Woodlands Native American tribes, particularly among the Anishinaabe peoples. Mishipeshu translates into “The Great Lynx.”

[1/9] Greek Gods/Goddesses:

NYX (Νύξ; meaning “night”) is the Greek goddess and personification of the night. She has extraordinary beauty and power, so much so that it is said even Zeus is afraid of her. Alone, she gave birth to numerous deities, such as Hypnos (Sleep), Thanatos (Death), the Hesperides (Evening, Sunset), and Nemesis (Retribution). She is often depicted as wearing a crown of mist.

Suddenly I turned around and she was standin’ there
With silver bracelets on her wrists and flowers in her hair
She walked up to me so gracefully and took my crown of thorns
‘Come in,’ she said, ‘I’ll give you shelter from the storm.’
